VA combined rating calculator

VA does not add ratings. Each new rating applies to what efficiency remains after higher ratings.

How VA combined ratings work

  1. Sort disabilities from highest to lowest percentage.
  2. Start with the highest rating. Each next rating multiplies the remaining efficiency (100 − combined so far).
  3. Optional bilateral factor: if applicable, add 10% of the combined bilateral disabilities before final rounding.
  4. Round to the nearest 10% for the official combined rating.

Example: 50% then 30% → 50 + (50% × 30) = 65 → rounds to 70%.
