Why two SSI payments in one month?
You are not receiving a bonus. The second deposit is next month’s SSI arriving early because the 1st falls on a weekend or federal holiday.
The shift rule
SSI is due on the 1st. When the 1st is Saturday, Sunday, or a federal holiday, payment moves to the previous business day — which can land in the prior calendar month. That prior month then shows two deposits: its own benefit plus the early next-month payment.
