Federal pay raise 2027 tracker
Civilian GS raises are not the same as the Social Security COLA. They are set through the federal pay-setting process and announced in an Executive Order or alternative pay plan.
Current baseline
For 2026: 1% across-the-board increase; locality percentages frozen at 2025 levels (17.06%–46.34% across 58 areas).
How we will track 2027
- Watch the President’s alternative pay plan / budget materials (often late summer–fall of the prior year).
- Note any across-the-board percentage vs locality component (they can move separately).
- Confirm final rates in the OPM salary tables / implementing Executive Order effective the first pay period of January.
